Research and Innovation Coordinator – Mr.Kingford Chimfwembe
Mr.Kingford Chimfwembe is currently supporting NOMDDRES, a research based Non-governmental Organization (NGO) as a Research Projects and Programmes Manager, whose key responsibilities at NOMDDRES include but not limited to heading and coordinating the research teams, developing viable research proposals that meet the needs of key stakeholders and he is also in charge of disseminating research findings.
Currently, he is Research Coordinator at Chreso University, Lecturer (Biology) as well as Research Technical as well as member of the Chreso University Research Ethics Committee (CUREC) and Chreso University Research Advisory Committee (RAC).
Kingford has a wealth of experience in Biology, Public Health, Research Ethics, Epidemiology, Statistics and Geographic Information System (GIS) for Public Health Surveillance and Spatial Epidemiology and is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Healthcare Management from UNICAF.
He has over 10 years experience in academia both in administration and teaching, having previously worked for Lusaka Apex Medical University, University of Zambia School of Medicine, Natural Resources Development College (NRDC) and DMI- St. Eugene University.
In the area of research, he has been able to apply the knowledge to various organizations which include the Ministry of Health of Zambia, The University of Zambia School of Medicine, University of Copenhagen (Denmark), University of Basel (Switzerland), European Union-CONTRAST Project, Integrated Control of Schistosomiasis in Africa (ICOSA-Project), London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Switzerland) and Vector Control Division, Ministry of Health (Uganda). He recently was a Scientific Team Leader for the Pre-Transmission Assessment Surveys (PRE-TAS) for Lymphatic Filariasis (Elephantiasis), under Ministry of Health, Zambia and World Health Organization (WHO) in Muchinga, Copperbelt and North-western Provinces. Under public service, he is a Research Technical Advisor to MoH, Zambia and WHO on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) and was instrumental in the development of a 2022 – 2026 Strategic Plan for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) In Zambia.
On international collaboration, Mr. Chimfwembe has been managing a grant from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) as Principal Investigator on the Impact of CIVID -19 on Mental Health in Zambia. He also coordinated a study on COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy in Zambia. His other involvement is with Tropical Health Education Trust (THET), Non-profit Organization Management from London, working in partnership to support health workers across the world. Mr.Chimfwembe is also collaborating with a team from Harvard University on Lymphatic Filariasis.
He is currently working on a project on Snakebites in Zambia.
